The Magi followed a star to that stable in Bethlehem and the shepherds were sent to see the newborn child by an angel choir. What is it that has us moving towards Bethlehem and that baby this Advent season? Are we heading in that direction because it’s just what we do between the season of Thanksgiving and the New Year? Is there a purpose behind each step we take, or has it just become a habit that we don’t really think about? In Matthew 11:3, John the Baptist is in prison and probably knows that his life is about over, so he sends his disciples to ask Jesus this question. “Are you the Coming One, or do we look for another?” Perhaps we too should wonder as we wander through this week about that question. Is this One we seek really the King of Kings and the Prince of Peace? If he is, what difference does it make in our lives? Newton’s 3rd law of motion states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. He was talking about things physical, but the law could also apply to things spiritual. If we believe Jesus is The One Who Saves, as his Hebrew name suggests, then there should be some kind of evidence to this in our lives. If not, then why not? The Peace Jesus offers us comes piece by piece into our lives. It is a process, not a one- time experience. So, wherever you are in your process, may Christ’s peace bring you comfort this week. Then, pass it on.
